Par2: Ad Hoc Joins using the Edit button on the file tree
1998-12-01 -- Andrew Guidroz II

> How do you hand code a join? > For instance... I have a browse on a Sales file. I have an Inventory Item that does not have a relationship defined in the dictionary although I know that SAL:InventoryItemPointer references a INV:InventoryItemUniqueNumber. I create a browse on the Sales file as the primary. I insert the Inventory Item file there under the Sales file. I press EDIT and click on the Custom radio button. In that blank space I type: SAL:InventoryItemPointer = INV:InventoryItemPointer And away I go . If I happen to have a key defined, the View engine is smart enough to use it -- very fast. If I don't happen to have one, it will dynamically index it.
