You have a tremendous opportunity here. Although I wouldn't have told him I didn't know VB, I'd have said "I know VB and that's why I refuse to write in it." VB is excellent for writing large dinosaur applications that talk with other MS applications. I suspect that is not the type of thing you are being asked to write here. One of the bigger banks here in SA uses Clarion "ABSA". This may not help you there. but a least its Clarion is represented across the world. rgs. Nigel Trane Company, Div of American Standard. Petsmart. Heard from a contact at SV that the equivalent of the Department of Motor Vehicles for Canada has a system nearly developed for use by all of the provinces Cinemark USA, Inc. One of the largest motion picture exhibitors in North America, with 2,942 screens in 33 States and internationally in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Peru We used Clarion to create the premier point of sale system to sell movie tickets and concessions at our theatres. Thanks to our use of Clarion, Cinemark was also the first major theatre chain to sell movie tickets online and we invented print-at-home ticketing with Clarion software. How about Chevron? Their program for accounting, personnel, vehicle tracking, etc. is all in Clarion for Windows. It was just ported over from .tps to MSSQL format. Nationwide Advertising Service also uses Clarion. Now. That name might not mean anything to you. But... until last year they were the largest independent recruitment ad agency in the US with 38 offices in the US and 3 in Canada. I said until last year because they were bought out last by McAnn-Erickson Worldwide. You can add Sylvan Learning Centers, Direct TV and the BC Gov'n Liquor Distribution Branch to your list. Also, since Prometric was bought out by Thomson Learning early last year, add Prometric - Thomson Learning to your list. You can add an european company, Airbus industry ( If you have never heard about it, Boeing has....), and a big french oil company, Total. OfficeDepot is also using a Clarion POS program Victoria's Secret (I recently heard) Pervasive Software (yup, Btrieve) IBM made it one of only seven recommended tools About 6-700 college and university placement offices Pilot Oil Company Sonoco Paper Products (fortune 250) Image Arts, Etc. (A franchise system started by the Mail Boxes Etc people) They arent using it internally, they are using our app:) Mark Riffey Granite Bear Development Hoffman Laroche ortho pharmaceuticals (sub of j&j not chevron) DirectTV Federal Express (risk management) There are numerous television stations (mainly PBS), but foreign operations as well) running station operation software written in windows versions of Clarion. Landau Uniforms. We are one of the largest medical apparel manufacturing/distribution companies in the world. Ask any medical professional who wears uniforms and they know Landau. ComQuest has been in Clarion since day 1 (DOS in 1994, Windows since '98)... While it doesn't do traffic / billing, etc. it's used by 100+ stations around the world for callout music/perceptual research... Let's not forget DSS and WinDSS, point of sale/cash register and back office software by JDA Software Group (www.jda.com). Probably the most $successful Clarion applications in existence. Client short list includes Petco, Universal Studios, BBQ's Galore, Beauty Brands and FootStar Inc (FootAction and Just for Feet). If you need a larger client list drop me an email, as it will take time to compile. You can also add JDA (One of the larger ERP Firms) Courts Ernst & Young (I think) The US State dept And last but not least The Kremlin Bob Butler's "Time Matters" program (law office case management software -- #1 in its niche, I think. Accutrac www.accutrac.com Records Managment LoneWolf www.lonewolfsoftware.com Time and Attendance POSitive software www.gopositive.com POS software Trojan Professional Services http://www.trojanonline.com practice support services for dental professionals LabCorp. www.labcorp.com (lcm product) laboratory testing www.enercalc.com Structural Engineering software used in over 4,000 architectural/engineering firms for the design of buildings. I write Horse Racing software... http://www.horsestreet.com/ Match-IT, Award Winning Manufacturing Software, UK. www.match-it.com www.base2.com EDI and release management software We started the conversion to Windows using VB in 1996. When we discovered two-year old uncorrected bugs in the ODBC driver for Access which caused our software to GPF (and spent 2 weeks trying to find out what WE did wrong), we dumped VB and three months of work. We have never regretted it.. ACES (ACcounting Enhanced Software) CARP (Cost Analysis of Resources and Projects) PREM (Projects and Resources Management) CFAS (Consolidated Fixed ASsets) All these applications are made in Clarion and are marketed in Luxembourg and Belgium.
