Non-Development: Reduce hard drive noise
2002-03-04 -- Dave Harms

Newsgroups: topspeed.topic.general Gregg, > Now how about noisy harddrives? > Some days it doesn't bother , others - that's all I hear. That's easy - http://www.molex.com/product/silent/silentdrive.html I've used about a half dozen of these drive sleeves, and they do an awesome job. One word of warning - they're really only intended for 5400 RPM IDE drives - fast and SCSI drives throw too much heat. I have used them with SCSI drives successfully, although I did have to mount a fan in the case to blow over the drive case heat sink. The IBM drives I've bought the last couple of times have been so quiet there's been no need, however.
