Windows Operating Systems: Setting User access rights in XP

This article shows screenshots of the various settings in properties for a shared root folder (or any other shared folder) on XP. The computer must be booted in Safe mode with admin account logged in.


Settings for the Administrator Account.


Settings for the Creator/Owner Account.


Settings for the Everyone Account.


Settings for the SYSTEM Account.


Settings for the Users Account.


Overview of the Permissions settings. To get to the Permissions setting, click the Advanced button on the folder Properties - Security tab.


Settings for the Everyone Account. Click the "Change" button and then type in the account name, in this case EVERYONE to select that account to display.
