Installing/Uninstalling
-----------------------
Extract the archive to any directory. Create a shortcut to wlistdb.exe on your desktop.

To uninstall, delete wlistdb.exe and this readme file. Delete also wlistdb.ini in your Windows directory.

This application does not alter any system files nor does it read/write anything in the Windows registry.

Running WListdb
-----------------
Start wlistdb.exe

Setup
-----
Choose 'Setup...' in the menu.
Set the location of instapp.exe. (Usually found in C:\Palm\ or wherever you installed the Palm Desktop software.)

Using WListdb
---------------
Open an existing file through Files/Open.. or the 'open' button in the toolbar. A Pilot-like Window appears. This 'Pilot Window' has essentially the same functionality like your PalmPilot. So just try and play around with it. Tooltips show further explanations and the shortcut keys.

Create new files through Files/New... or the 'new' button. After this, you get the Database Setup dialog where you can set the field prompts and the database name. (You can change this later through the customize button in the Pilot window.) After clicking on 'okay' you'll get the Pilot Window.

Save files using the save button or Files/Save or Files/Save as... If you choose Save as... or if you are working on a new file which hasn't been saved before, you will get a standard Windows Save-File dialog. Please make sure to always use a file with the extension .pdb or you won't be able to access this file later.

Use File/Save and install... (Ctrl-I) or the Install button to save your pdb file and call the installation application of your Palm Desktop.

To Do
-----
As mentioned above, this application is still in the development stage. For the future, I plan to add some features and improvements, e.g.:

- editing multiple files at a time
- drag and drop records between categories and files
- support of csv and maybe other file formats
- automated install
- better management of pdb files (archivizing, log which pdb's are installed on the Palm etc.)
- font setup
- print List databases (all, per category, selected records with notes, ...)
- other things I haven't thought of yet

I'm hoping for your feedback. Please send your suggestions and bug reports to:

martens@manhattan.lt

Put 'WLISTDB' (all upper case) into the subject line to make it easier for me to organise my e-mail!

Have fun!

Olaf Martens
