Although there are a number of resources available to obtain Clarion third-party add-on products, there is no centralized single source available to obtain such information. For the benefit of the Clarion Community, Encourager Software, has established a central source for exchanging and viewing third-party add-on product profiles. The Clarion Profile Exchange is for INFORMATION purposes only. Is this only for third-party add-on products? No, The intent of the profile exchange is to profile information that would be useful for the Clarion programming community in general. This might include Combo records listing User Group contact and meeting time information. Other uses could include profiling special programs for vertical markets (this could include those who don't want to sell source code). It is a resource tool for the Clarion programmer. So whatever helps the programming community might be considered a legitimate entry. Product profiles must be submitted by the company or individual creating them, or by someone they designate as being authorized to do so. Place To Buy Type Combo records do not have to be official submissions, but should be as accurate as possible. How does it work? Clarion third-party companies develop their product profiles with a program called Product Scope Lite (current version is 2.1) (filename is PSCOPELT.EXE or PSCOPL21.ZIP). The data is sent to Encourager Software, where it is combined with other product profiles, and re-posted to the Compuserve TopSpeed Forum and the Internet as PSDATA.ZIP. Where will the system be located? Product Scope Lite is used to Develop or View the product profiles. Here is the current download information. Download information for the Product Scope Lite program - On Compuserve, the TopSpeed Forum (GO CIS:TOPSPE) - Lib#11 CW Third Party - filename is PSCOPELT.EXE. On the Internet, http://www.coast.net/SimTel/win3/business.html Filename is PSCOPL21.ZIP On the Internet (Icetips), ftp://www.icetips.com/public/demos/ Filename is PSCOPL21.ZIP Download information for PSDATA.ZIP - On Compuserve, the TopSpeed Forum (GO CIS:TOPSPE) - Lib#11 CW Third Party - filename is PSDATA.ZIP. On the Internet, http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/EncouragerSoftware Filename is PSDATA.ZIP. Is there a fee to view or load the info? NO, the Clarion Community (those who own TopSpeed products) can use Product Scope Lite, Single User, Viewer Version, without paying a registration fee. TopSpeed products are considered any official products of the present TopSpeed corporation, or the former Clarion corporation (predecessor to TopSpeed). Who will be maintaining the system? Dave Troxell, Encourager Software, using Clarion since 1990. Is there any catch? NO, this is a voluntary effort on the part of Encourager Software and the Clarion community. NO fees are involved to develop the profiles or view them for those who own TopSpeed products! Who will qualify to load and unload the info? Since those that will want to utilize the exchange already own TopSpeed products, and Product Scope Lite is a commercial/shareware released program, this clarifies that those who own a TopSpeed product are entitled to complimentary use of a single user, Viewer Version of PSL without paying a registration fee for the sake of the Clarion Profile Exchange. PSDATA.ZIP represents officially submitted product profiles from product developers in the Clarion community. Some Combo (vendor/company profile) records are not officially submitted, but represent Place To Buy sources for some of the products, and are based on the most accurate information available. Since product prices can and do change (and where to buy), use the contact information contained within the Combo records to obtain the latest availability and price. PSCOPELT.EXE or PSCOPL21.ZIP contain the program needed to develop and view the profiles.
